Rosemary Hair Growth Oil

Rosemary Hair Growth Oil

Not my typical food blog, but I had to share this recipe and my experience because it is pretty crazy. This rosemary hair growth oil actually works.

Brit & Her hair.

I think for me, my hair is one of my favorite physical thing about myself and I have done what almost all women and girls do. I have cut all my hair off, bleached it, died it in black, gotten bad bangs, you name it. Most of us girls have done it.

So, around 6 years ago I decided to end the cycle of hair abuse and take better care of it. It grew and became longer and happier. Around a year and a half ago right when I moved back to the United States from Canada, I was under a lot of stress and my hair started to fall out more. I remedied the stress and my hair stopped falling out. However, my hair wasn’t growing back a lot and there were thin spots. I was sad. I love my hair. I decided to do my own research and to deep-dive into this specific subject.

I saw some blogs about this rosemary hair growth oil and decided “why not try?”. I had nothing to lose and my hair could get better… Scroll to the bottom after the recipe to see what the outcome was.

PS. I am an amazon affiliate now and will link some of the items I use to take care of my hair!

Where I am currently

I am currently on a Gili in Indonesia, Adrien and I are waiting for our boat to take us to the mainland. From there we will take a car to Mt. Rinjani to then hike it in the morning. We are excited to spear head this adventure.

I really wanted to make sure I wrote this and got it out for you. It makes me happy to be able to write this from somewhere in the world. I share a lot of my adventures and experiences on my Instagram, if you want to follow me. I would love to see you there. I also have a tutorial video on how I make this, if video is an easier way for you to learn!

Also, big things happening in November. I am going to be starting long-form content on You-tube!! Ah, this has been a huge aspiration of mine, and I am very excited to start teaching about my love for cooking and how to cook!

Last, the Pinterest!! I update this usually daily! As I travel currently, I am in and out of service and do not always have the ability to post. But it is a great way to never miss a recipe and easily save them, so you have easy access!

The Recipe:

A jar of coconut oil and sprigs of rosemary on a cutting board.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup of Virgin Coconut Oil
  • 3-5 Big Sprigs of Rosemary

Method:

  1. Gather the above ingredients. In a metal bowl add the coconut oil. Then use scissors to cut the rosemary up and put it in the same bowl as the coconut oil.
  1. In a small saucepan, fill with water about 1/2 way. Place the bowl of coconut oil and rosemary into the saucepan.
  2. Turn on the heat to medium to get the water steaming. Place the lid of the saucepan, covering the bowl containing your ingredients. Once the water is boiling and steaming, turn the heat to low.
  3. Allow your ingredients to simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
  1. When the rosemary is infused it should look like the above. The rosemary should be a yellow/green color and the oil as well.
  2. Remove the bowl from the heat and allow it to cool enough to be able to handle the bowl.
  1. You are going to need another bowl and a fine strainer next. Place the strainer over the new bowl and pour your oil through it, catching all the rosemary. You may need to strain twice if small rosemary pieces go through.
  1. The infused oil should look something like the above. A yellow color. Then you are going to pour your cooled oil into a small mason jar!
  2. Then you are done! Store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks or so, or in the freezer indefinitely.

How to use it:

A full small mason jar of rosemary hair oil that promotes hair growth!
  1. You can take your newly made oil when it is warm – not hot, you don’t want to burn your scalp – and pour a generous amount on your scalp and gently massage until the scalp is covered. Continue to massage the scalp, gently for about 5 minutes, working more oil down to the ends. All your hair should be covered in oil now.
  2. If you are using oil you have stored in the fridge, pull out your oil and spoon out a a bit into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave till warm. Again, not hot. Then do the step above.
  3. Leave the oil in your hair from 30 minutes to 8 hours – aka over night.
  4. When you are ready to wash the oil out of your hair remember to shampoo well twice, to insure you get all the oil out of your hair. Also good to invest on quality shampoo and conditioners.
  5. You’re done. Repeat this process twice a week. You must be consistent. Doing it once will only make your hair soft for the day. I personally saw results after 2 months.

Finishing the story:

So, why not try? I started religiously oiling, massaging while I oiled and taking extra good care of my hair. I started seeing results after about 2 months. My hair grew by about 2-3 inches, my hair was shinier, happier, growing back as well in other places on my scalp. Hair is literally growing back all over my head.

How I knew it was also true is because everyone I know noticed. Everyone. Co-workers, family, my husband, strangers were complimenting my hair. It was actually insane.

For me, this worked. I did it twice a week for 5 months in total. I stopped because of traveling! I am still traveling but when I get back I am going to start again and take progress pictures this time so you can really see.

So. Please try this. Just remember if you aren’t consistent it isn’t going to work. That is the harsh reality. So prepare and commit and watch your hair grow!!

Things I use to take care of my hair:

Bamboo Brush: Brushing your hair with wooden brushes is better for your hair and scalp. They usually have rounded, smooth bristles that massage the scalp while brushing. This can increase blood circulation to the hair follicles, promoting healthier hair growth and helping to distribute oils evenly from the scalp to the ends of your hair! -> This is the one I use. 10/10. And cheap. <-

Silk Night Cap: I will never go back to sleeping on my hair. This silk night cap is the best. My hair ends come out soft when I wake up, not all crunchy. Using one of these reduces hair breakage, prevents frizz, promotes hair growth, prevents split ends and helps retain the natural oils.
-> This is the one I use, It is literally the best. <-
